LUIS SANTOS
Luis Santos, a Franco-Portuguese designer born in Portugal.
Captivated from an early age by the world of art and design as a form of both universal and individual expression, his sense of identity, fascination for detail and appreciation for structure and volume naturally intertwined with fashion and architecture.
His creative process is guided by a strong sensitivity to volumes that stand out, the rigor of construction, the serenity of strict lines and, equally, the emotional resonance of shapes. These elements became the foundation of his work.
“I have never separated clothing from space, nor the silhouettes that move through it; I like the idea of perfect harmony and coexistence between the two, as a single element.”
Over time, his interest in clothing, cut and silhouettes evolved into a style that would become a signature — one that is more about attitude than fashion itself.
His first steps in fashion were with the houses of Christian Dior and Christian Lacroix.
But it was his encounter with the couturier Dominique Sirop — right-hand to Hubert de Givenchy — that marked him profoundly. Sirop hired Luis as his first assistant, with whom he worked closely.
He later worked at Paco Rabanne, but it was his time at KENZO that he describes as his most enriching experience.
In 2011, the French beauty brand Clarins invited him to design uniforms for their hostesses, sales teams and SPA.
Since then, collaborations in the same field followed, including Hermès, Montblanc, Jaeger-LeCoultre and Derma Center (L’Oréal Group).
“Creating uniforms still means approaching clothing — but differently than fashion. The constraints are not the same, yet the DNA remains the most important.”
Since 2019, he has been the creative director for the New York brand FURI Sport and TFP by Furi, where he brings a vision in which contrasts of genres, volumes and techniques confront and complement each other.
With the rise of ecological concerns in fashion and luxury, the creation of his own brand in 2024 opened a new chapter.
A more responsible approach, free from traditional seasonal rhythms, shapes his design language.
As a natural extension of his values, Luis decided to develop limited-edition unisex capsule collections produced 100% in Portugal.
“I don’t want to restrict myself within the increasingly blurred codes of masculine and feminine — on the contrary, I want to break them.”
“One size fits all” also became a deliberate choice: each piece is designed to adapt to different bodies and proportions.
“The Luis Santos Studio brand is a distillation of ideas, tastes and obsessions that have accompanied me for a very long time. It has to be cool but not too cool, chic but never stuffy — and always sophisticated.”
